With “Fair and Diverse: Berlin Guidelines for AI and ADM in Public Authorities”, the State Office for Equal Treatment and Against Discrimination (LADS) of the Senate Department for Labour, Social Affairs, Equality, Integration, Diversity and Anti-Discrimination (SenASGIVA) aims to develop principles, recommendations for action and guidelines for the diversity-oriented and discrimination-sensitive use of algorithmic decision-making systems and artificial intelligence within the Berlin Senate Department. In order to achieve this goal, a participatory, multi-perspective process is proposed. This aims to closely and bindingly involve key players from Berlin’s business, science and civil society sectors in the discussions and development processes relating to discrimination-sensitive and diversity-oriented technology. This will be flanked by the creation of working papers and the processing of existing knowledge as well as topic-specific training and literacy programmes.
