Communication in the digital space is increasingly determined by new gatekeepers. Algorithmic systems create personalised offers that are not visible to the general public and thus shape digital media reality. We produced the monitoring programme on behalf of the NRW Media Authority. The nine issues analyse current developments in the field of digital information intermediaries and provide an overview of new scientific publications, the status of current research projects and their results, which are placed in a wider socio-political context.
