New issue of *prompt/* in October 2026

The October 2026 issue of prompt/ focuses on the interplay between generative AI and open educational resources (OER).

We explain how AI-generated content can be integrated into OER, what copyright issues arise in the process, and when labelling is required or advisable. We also examine whether copyright-protected and CC-licensed works may be fed into AI systems, and what opportunities OER offer for improving the quality of AI-generated content.

In an interview, specialist lawyer Yulia Loose explains what needs to be taken into account when using and labelling AI-generated content in open educational resources, and how the relevant licence notices can be formulated.

We also introduce the concept of CC Signals, which would allow rights holders to attach specific conditions to the use of their works for AI training. Furthermore, we provide information on the launch of the new prompt/ website.
