Pre-event German Foundation Day

Think innovatively, act digitally – AI in foundation practice

In the run-up to the German Foundation Day 2026, iRights.Lab hosted the Innovation Track, an exclusive pre-event on the topic of "Innovation and AI in the German foundation landscape" in Hamburg on 19 May on behalf of the Association of German Foundations.

Around 90 participants came together to explore how foundations can use AI competently, responsibly and with an open mind for the future. Workshops, discussions and impulses focussed on specific fields of application, strategic questions and the role of foundations in a time of rapid technological and social change.

Under the theme of the Foundation Day "Acting out of freedom", it became clear that foundations can create important spaces to try out new perspectives, share responsibility and help shape digital developments for the common good.

We take away many inspiring discussions, new impulses and exciting perspectives from Hamburg and thank the Association of German Foundations for the trusting cooperation.
