AI & Innovation in Foundation Practice: New Publication on the Innovation Track
How can foundations use artificial intelligence responsibly and actively shape innovation? These were the questions addressed by the Innovation Track on 19 May 2026 in Hamburg, a joint pre-event organised by the Federal Association of German Foundations and iRights.Lab. Around 90 participants discussed the opportunities and challenges posed by AI and innovation in foundation work.
The final publication, ‘AI & Innovation in Foundational Practice’, which has now been released, brings together key insights from the event in six theses and concrete recommendations for action. Among other things, it focuses on the responsible use of AI, organisational prerequisites for innovation, and the importance of AI and media literacy for a strong democracy.
The publication is intended as an invitation to experiment boldly, share experiences and take an active role in shaping the debate on AI. For foundations in particular, the following applies: new technologies open up opportunities, but the responsibility for their use remains with people.
