Research Assistant (m/f/d) specialising in Media literacy/media education

Full-time or part-time (at least 25 hours per week)

We are currently looking for an experienced research assistant specialising in media education (m/f/d) to join our office in Berlin-Kreuzberg (with the option of some remote working).

You view digitalisation as a task for shaping society and wish to actively research and help shape its impact on education, participation and media use. You take a keen interest in current developments in digital media and artificial intelligence and their significance for children, young people, families and educational institutions. With analytical insight and methodological expertise, you grasp the complex interrelationships between technological development, social change and educational processes. Thanks to your structured approach, you find it easy to analyse complex issues, process research findings and communicate them in a way that is tailored to the target audience.

The tasks

  • Research and analysis of current developments in the fields of digitalisation, media education, (digital) education and artificial intelligence
  • Design, implementation and evaluation of academic studies and research projects
  • Development and application of qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • Design, implementation and evaluation of interviews, focus groups, workshops and other empirical surveys
  • Preparation of studies, expert reports, specialist publications, position papers and practice-oriented guidance documents
  • Preparation and presentation of research findings to clients, funding bodies and the specialist public
  • Identification, design and development of new project ideas, as well as involvement in the acquisition of third-party funding (e.g. funding applications, proposals, project outlines)
  • Organisation, design, facilitation and documentation of participatory formats, specialist events and public events
  • Providing organisational and content-related support to the project management
  • Establishing and maintaining collaborations with partners from academia, education, civil society, politics and public administration

The requirements

  • A university degree (Master’s or equivalent), ideally in media education, media and communication studies, educational studies, social sciences or a related field
  • Several years’ professional experience in (social) research, project work or academic work
  • In-depth knowledge of media education, digital literacy and the education sector
  • Experience in the design, implementation and evaluation of empirical research projects
  • Proficiency in qualitative research methods; knowledge of quantitative methods is an advantage
  • Interest in current developments in the field of artificial intelligence and their impact on education and society
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent communication skills
  • A highly professional manner when dealing with project partners and stakeholders
  • Excellent comprehension skills and an analytical, structured and independent approach to work
  • Excellent command of the German language and very good knowledge of English
  • Willingness to undertake occasional business travel and to attend external events
