Everyone talks about blockchain. Some people understand the technology, but most do not. Some believe it’s a trend, another hype that will soon be forgotten, while others believe it will make the world another, a better place, automating processes and reorganizing our lives in every imaginable way.
On one thing, however, everyone agrees: blockchain is far more than just the technological basis of a cryptocurrency used by technology geeks.
We would like to talk about blockchain, but in a way grounded in the facts, and such that everyone can understand the concepts at stake.
After a general introduction to the technology, we would then like to highlight a background aspect that has not yet received enough attention, but which we consider to be crucial: What does blockchain mean for the development of the media?
Under the title “Blockchain and the transformation of media — Another hype or the future?” we want to discuss these issues. We invite you to join us:
11.12.2018 at 19:00 in the Literaturhaus Berlin, Fasanenstraße 23.
We have also invited some exciting guests:
Andrea Bauer, Strategist for Digital Transformation, Innovation Expert and Author
Florian Glatz, President, Federal Blockchain Association
Ramak Molavi Vasse’i, Policy Advisor iRights.Lab
With these experts, we will discuss what blockchain technology and decentralized databases mean for the media industry and especially for news journalism, what smart contracts, Global Content Networks and Media Coin accounts are all about, what opportunities exist for trading media licenses and what the consequences of all this are for media usage.
Of course, your questions in particular should also be answered, and the experts are available for a Q&A at the podium.
The talk will be followed by a gathering with drinks and snacks in the Literaturhaus and another opportunity for personal exchange.
The event is supported by the Digital News Innovation Fund.
