Education, memory and digital society

A project for historical-political education in Poland and Germany

iRights.Lab is looking for innovative actors, organizations and formats to be be involved with a new program funded by the Foundation for Remembrance, Responsibility and Future (EVZ) in Poland and Germany.

The ways in which the period of National Socialism and the Second World War is remembered in Poland and Germany are changing and shifting slowly but unmistakably. This is revealed by historical and contemporary social events and developments on both sides of the Oder. Various actors have proven themselves repeatedly willing to instrumentalize precisely this epoch of German-Polish and European history for their own political purposes.

For this reason, the general public in both countries must be increasingly involved in bilateral memorial policy work. New target groups must also be tapped. Research conducted by iRights.Lab clearly shows that the digital knowledge transfer of historical contexts offers unique opportunities to develop and expand cross-border educational concepts.

Together with the EVZ Foundation, iRights.Lab aims to create a digital political map together with other actors, organizations and institutions. The focus is on the possibilities for preserving and communicating historical knowledge using digital technologies. This strategic analysis is intended as an important step towards the future of historical-political education.
